We took inspiration from a number of artist, and we also developed what they did and created our own to use in our music video!
1.
This was our shot we were inspired by a used a projector to project a time lapse in front of Ella's face and get her to move in front of it
This is a shot taken form Jaden Smith- 4 my 1 instead showing a projected image where we instead used footage from our video.
I came up with the idea that we could use the effect of projecting something onto a board in a dark room and getting Ella to stand in front of it.
On reflection when we re watched 'Summertime sadness' by lana del rey we noticed that she too had used a projection in one of her shots, and similarly used a video to project instead of a photo like Jaden.

We managed to get a really beautiful light glare with the sun in the spot we found in Ashton court, it really captured the dreamy song by 'Sea Oleena' but also was inspired shot capturing the location and our main subject being Ella.
Kylie Minogue's music video had a very dream like feel which we wanted to capture both in the photos and on camera for our music video, we took from this the scenery and vintage outfit.

The start of our Video shows a time lapse of the sun going down across the horizon of Bristol at one of its highest points. This was thane as inspiration from lana del rey who also filmed the sky moving at the start of her video for summertime sadness.
In our video we captured a lot of lovely scenery shots due to the lighting was really great that time of day and Ashton court had a lot of scenery which we wanted to take advantage of.
We also really wanted to use the 4 elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. And when we filmed we found that Ashton court had really lovely Earth shots we could use to represent this.
We really took a lot of inspiration form Lana del rey, she and a lot of components that we also wanted to use. She had lots of scenery shots and a real vintage feel to the video. I think that she may have actually used a super 8 camera to film the video
Me and Anna collected a small sample group of people from our class to watch and asses our final cut finished edit of our music video in attempt to help give us feedback into what went well and what we could improve on. We asked them a series of questions and filmed their response after watching our music video, the questions we asked were...
1. What were your favourite aspects of our music video?
2. Do you think we captured the dreamy indie aspect?
3. Did you like our colour choice?
4. Does this video remind you of another artist?
5. What would you say we could improve in our music video? ........................................................... Below is the clips of their responses to our questions
We collected audience research of what images to use on our digipack and our magazine advertisement and if people liked the images we wanted to use. When filming our music video we had a disposable camera where we took abstract photos in aims to use them when they got developed. Me and Anna both thought that they came out really well and were keen to use them in our print work, but first we wanted to collect samples from people in our class and a few outside to help us decide on what we could do with the disposables and if they were good enough.
As we started to edit our video together we followed the basis of the story board ideas, and when we filmed we got lots of the shots that we planned to do get. While editing we did change things like the start of the video and removed the scenes of the bath and decided mutually they looked better towards the end of the song.
We wanted a very jumbled look, so that is what we had in mind when we were editing. A silhouette shot was one of the random impulse thoughts we had when we were out. We added in our hand and loved the way the dark silhouette contrasted with the light coloured sky. Using jump cuts we created these shots to fit with some of the lyrics talking about 'Pinning up the clouds like patches' to connect the lyrics and visuals.
This was one of my personal favourite shots as it was very aesthetically pleasing to watch. We recorded the bath water draining away after the bath scene, with the flowers and light bulb in. After watching it and seeing how long it took to drain away, the rabbit shows how we sped it up so it appeared the flowers moved more. It was a really nice outro for our video as it was calming and went well with the calm vocals and instrumental.
As you can see we chopped up the clips we filmed quite a lot to create a jumbled and jump-cut style we thought and wanted to be represented in our video.
For example in lots of our shots even though we filmed them quite slow we slowed them down more as we felt like this went with the song conventions more. The little tortoise shows this. We also included lots of close ups of of the props we used as they were really important in capturing the dreamy, indie, old feel.
Whilst we did our filming for our video Anna bought a disposable camera, to which we took photos on in hopes that when they were developed we could use them for our music videos magazine advert and cd case.
We ended up getting them developed and below is how some of them turned out...
A lot of our phots came out very clear (thank god) and almost darker than the normal lighting, which is what we hoped for!!
These were all of our photos and below are a few selected ones we liked :)
We really loved the look of lots of them and thought that they would work really well with our theme for our video, being quite vintage and old aged. We wanted to capture all types of aspects from our filming including not only Ella (our star girl) but also scenes from the bath, outside and the scenery at blaise/Ashton court.
Me and Anna while down loading all of our footage came to the conclusion that we wanted to do some scenery shots and more outside scenes, unfortunately Ella wasn't available to film with us so we filmed some shots with me.
There is a house which is very old and victorian and we both felt that it would go with our ideas and convey the vintage feel we wanted throughout our video.
It had really nice architecture, paintings and ceiling that we felt went with the vibe we wanted.
We ended up really liking the footage with me in it but felt as though it didn't fit the theme and vibe we were going for in our video and left it out.
